Cataracts

When cataracts develop, your vision can start to get blurry and you may see halos around bright light sources. While extremely common with age, cataracts can be removed in a relatively simple operative procedure. Our optometry team provides necessary pre- and post-operative care to enhance your outcomes.

Refractive Errors (Astigmatism, Myopia, Hyperopia)

Abnormalities in the shape of your cornea or eyeball can lead to what's known as a refractive error an alteration in the way light enters and focuses in the eye, thereby leading to blurry vision at near and/or far distances. The most common types of refractive errors which are correctable with prescription eyewear include astigmatism, myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and presbyopia (age-related farsightedness).

Glaucoma

Your optic nerves transmit visual information to the visual processing centers of the brain. Sometimes often due to increased inner eye pressure the optic nerve can become progressively damaged, leading to vision loss. Our optometrists help manage this condition through medications, low vision strategies, and updated prescription eyewear.

Age-Related Macular Degeneration

The center of your retinal tissue (found on the inside the back of your eye) is called the macula. Often with age, this area begins to degrade and wear down, either due to the nearby growth of small yellow deposits (dry AMD) or small leaky blood vessels (wet AMD). Treatment depends on the type of AMD and may include nutritional advice and medications.

Pediatric Eye Care

In addition to refractive errors, children and adolescents can experience a variety of eye health conditions which benefit from optometry care. These include amblyopia and strabismus. We help children and adolescents improve their eyesight (and maximize their academic and athletic performance!) through services such as pediatric eye exams, vision therapy, and patching.
